Advanced students will be introduced to a new level in the world of translation through exercises based on articles in well-known newspapers. These translation exercises will provide you with some experience and tools to deal effectively with many of the complexities of the profession. Also, you will learn lexical equivalencies in a number of different fields such as health care, social issues, the environment, economy and finance. Through the exposure to common difficult points like cultural differences, context and terms with local connotations, you will become familiar with techniques to spot and solve such problems. We will hold three one-hour online sessions as a group. Each session will take place at the end of each of the three sets of exercises. Students will have the chance to discuss with their instructor and with one another the problems they have encountered and their possible solutions.
