2036 Cuba: The Evolution of a Revolution

Course Details

Few other countries evoke the same mystique, or misunderstanding, as Cuba. Many see Cuba as the country of beaches, rum and cigars. For others it continues to conjure up the romantic images of Revolution,  Fidel Castro and Che Guevera. Join award-winning journalist Keith  Bolender as he explores the history and reality of Cuba, from the Spanish colonial days to the American control that led to the Revolution to the dramatic changes that this small Caribbean country is currently experiencing. Listen to his unique perspective on Cuba based on more than fifteen years' working experience in the country.  The course  will cover various topics, such  as the still-contentious relationship between the United States and Cuba, and how American economic and political policies have helped maintain the fifty-year Castro régime. Canada's unique relationship with revolutionary Cuba will also be explored.
