Course Details

An exciting and hyper-current expansion on traditional literary journalism, Creative Journalism uses new and provocative forms of style and content to challenge and change the contemporary media. Discussion and assignments will focus on movements and methods such as New Journalism, Gonzo, and Immersion, and consider writers and publications including Tom Wolfe, Joan Didion, Norman Mailer, Bruce Chatwin, Susan Orlean, Hunter S. Thompson, Lester Bangs, Sarah Vowell, Carl Wilson, Vice magazine, the New Yorker, New York magazine, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork Media, and alternative weeklies.
