Course Description

This transformational program integrates writing practice and meditation with an emphasis on how these practices support one another. Our retreat offers accessible on-the-spot meditation, mindfulness, and contemplative practices that uncover your basic strength, gentleness, wisdom, and compassion. Your daily practice will interlace sessions of meditation and writing to unlock your creativity and release your inner voice onto the page. Through generative writing and meditation practice, we will learn how to let the words rise to our consciousness, allowing us to tell the stories that only we can tell. This course is open to beginning and advanced meditation practitioners and writers of all levels and genres. Learners who have completed the eight-week Meditation and Writing class (SCS 2678) are invited to this intensive, but the course is not a prerequisite.

Summer Writing School courses are applicable to the Certificate in Creative Writing.

Learning Outcomes

  • Engage with teachings form different wisdom traditions and uncover your basic goodness, strength, courage, and compassion.
  • Unblock your creative energy through meditation and generative writing practices.
  • Apply mindfulness techniques to emotional habits that sabotage your creative and life aspirations.
