Course Description

Need to know how the strategic aspect of management information systems can maximize organizational capabilities and enable you to achieve your business goals? In this course, you’ll learn how management information systems are selected, designed, managed and monitored to facilitate the information required to run successful organizations. You will learn how you can use enterprise resource planning systems to eliminate the barrier of ineffective collaboration among functions and highlight the impact on organizational design and management. You’ll come away knowing more about the infrastructures and business processes of information technology and how to make effective decisions for your organization.

Learning Outcomes

  • Be familiar with the technical elements of information technology infrastructure including networks, databases, hardware and software and how companies put these elements to use
  • Understand how companies strategically use information systems to gain advantage over competitors 
  • Comprehend how MIS supports business activities that can reinforce an organization’s decision-making process
  • Enhance IT competence through extensive knowledge of IT terminology and situations especially integrated information system
  • Understand the impact of social networking and its innovations on the various functions of an organization
  • Be knowledgeable of governance, managerial processes, risks, planning, systems development and how organizations address these topics 
  • Demonstrate the implementation and management of an information system
  • Identify issues related to ethics, information privacy and accessibility, including data and system security including privacy legislations
